System Initialization and WFCMenu
Intro and BBS Requirements
Welcome to Imajica Bulletin Board Systems.
Imajica, which was created a year ago, is a direct descendant of
Telegard 2.5i source code. There have been quite a few
modifications to the original source including comm rewrites,
file sharing and time slicing routines, and I/O functions.
As best as I can figure, over 75% of the source has been modified
or totally rewritten. For a complete history of the changes, see
"HISTORY.DOC".
You must have at least a 286 processor or higher to operate
Imajica. 300k available memory and a fossil driver are also
required. Fossil drivers, such as BNU and X00, are available for
download from most any BBS system. Please read the documentation
provided with chosen software for usage.
This release (3-15 Beta) is NOT intended to be fully operational and
"bug-free". It is BETA test software, and all responsibilities
are forgiven to any users of such software.
Common Abbreviations
* There are some terms you might not be familiar with - I've
tried to remember as many as I could. Since this Documentation
file is being thrown together tonight, between the tired fingers
and the screen saves, they might not all be in here. I'll try to
add more to this area later.
WFCMenu - Waiting for call menu. The menu you are at when
boot up Imajica.
ACS - Security Access String. The "code" to get into
certain areas of the BBS.
DLS - Download Security Level. Usually the security
it takes to download from a certain file area.
SL - Security Level. The main security access used
on the board.
NODE - Which "channel" you are on. Not always the same
as the comport you are on.
QWK - The file extension of a message packet created
by Imajica for download and use on an off-line mail reader.
REP - The file extension of a message packet created
by an off-line mailer for upload to Imajica's message bases.
FORUM - A way for a sysop to section off different areas
of his/her board. Access is obtained, if available, by
changing conferences by user command or automatically by
menu command.
AR FLAGS - These are flags "A" - "Z". See section on ACS.
AF FLAGS - These are the forum flags "A" - "Z". See ACS.
AC FLAGS - These are restriction flags. See Restrictions.
MCI - These are codes that, when placed in text files
or string prompts, expand into assigned variables such as
the users name, time left, BBS name, etc. These codes are
always preceded by a "@" character.
Command Line Parameters
The command line parameters are as follows:
/? Brings up a command line help list.
/Bxxxxx This command tells Imajica to connect to the modem
at "xxxxx" baud. This is needed for use with front
end mailers such as Front Door and D'Bridge.
/EExxx Critical error to exit with (254 is default).
/ENxxx Normal error level to exit with (0 is default).
/L Operates the BBS in Local Mode. No modem I/O.
/Mx Creates QWK packet for user and exits.
/Nn Run Imajica on node "n". Default is 1.
/P Pack message bases only.
/Q Quit to DOS after next user logs off.
/Un Will upload REP packet for user "n" then exit to
DOS.
/Xnnnn External Event start time in "nnnn" minutes.
Installation
TO INSTALL:
YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE PKUNZIP.EXE IN YOUR PATH OR START DIRECTORY
FOR PROPER INSTALLATION. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN
THE NEED TO DELETE ALL FILES AND DIRECTORIES MADE, AND START
THE ENTIRE INSTALLATION OVER!
Create your main BBS directory. your path statement, i.e. AUTOEXEC.BAT.
This directory will hereafter be referred to as the "start directory".
Directory tree using "IMAGE" as the start directory:
\IMAGE
\MISC
\DATA
\LOGS
\MSGS
\ECHOMAIL
\NETMAIL
\TEMP
\NODE1
\LOG
\MSG
\QWK
\MENUS
DON'T PRE-CREATE THESE DIRECTORIES!
Copy all files from the distribution package into the start directory.
INCLUDED FILES: (size) (info)
IMAJICA.DOC 43776 The file you are reading.
IMAJICA.EXE 93766 Main executionable file.
IMAJICA.OVR 653536 Main overlay file.
IMAJICA.DA° 24419 Menu, graphic, misc. archive.
*SETUP.COM 1793 RUN THIS TO SETUP/INSTALL.
INSTALL.DA° 38992 Installation routines.

Change to the start directory and type "SETUP".
You will be prompted "Install Imajica Current Directory?:"
This by default will be the directory you are running SETUP.COM from.
By pressing [Y] on this [ENTER] on the next 2 prompts, you can select the
default. You will then be prompted for an archive path, a protocol
path, and a private file transfer path.
ARCHIVE PATH : This is the path where the external archiving
files will be kept and used. ARJ.EXE, PKUNZIP.EXE,
PKZIP.EXE, GIFFER.EXE, SCAN.EXE, etc...
PROTOCOL PATH : This is the path where the external protocol
files will be kept and used. DSZ.EXE, PUMA.EXE,
HSLINK.EXE, etc...
PRIVATE FILE PATH : This is the directory where all "private
file" transfers are stored.
The board will install and load up locally (no comport activity).
You should use the "S"ystem Configuration to configure your modem and
other information at this time.
To log on, press the space bar.
Later, you might want to add the following lines to your AUTOEXEC.BAT:
SET DSZ=C:\START_DIR\PROT\DSZ.EXE
SET DSZTEMP=C:\START_DIR\LOGS\DSZTEMP.LOG
At DOS, type IMAJICA /? for command line help.
A fossil driver, such as BNU.EXE or X00.EXE, needs to be installed before
loading Imajica unless in "/L"ocal mode.

MCI Codes
MCI Codes Defined
MCI stands for Message Command Interpreter. These codes are letters
of the alphabet that are preceeded with an "@" symbol. MCI codes will
expand into individual system or user information strings when they
are displayed in various prompts, text files, and messages.
MCI codes in Imajica are virtually universal. They work in messages,
text files, prompts - everywhere! There are also many new MCI codes
on the way. MCI codes are CASE SENSITIVE!

Define AutoMail
Imajica allows the sysop to customize the "automatic" messages that
users receive for various reasons. There are 4 included routines in
this version.
FILENAME: This is the actual name of the text file the BBS will use as
the message body. This should reside in the \MISC\ path.
TITLE : This is the actual message title.
# Filename Message Title
------------------------------------
HANGUP.ASC INCORRECT HANG-UP PROCEDURE
* Mail is sent when the board registers a user not logging
off correctly.
FILEREW.ASC FILE POINT REWARD
* Mail is sent if another user downloads a file that this user
has uploaded. This routine appends the sysop prepared text file
with the filename and point reward.
DELFILE.ASC FILE REMOVAL
* Mail is sent if a file is removed that this user has uploaded.
This routine appends the sysop prepared text file with the
filename and points (if any) that were removed along with
a one-line reason from the sysop.
DECLFILE.ASC DECLINED FMAIL
* Mail is sent to user if Private File transfer was declined.
FUTURE FUTURE
* This is for future expansion. (got any ideas?)
AutoMail allows you do personalize the automatic memos the board
sends to users when they hang up incorrectly, get file point rewards,
have files removed, or declined a private file.
Files should reside in the \MISC\ directory.

This is the first line that will display when using generic menus.
MCI codes, ^# color codes, and ^P color codes will all work
with these strings. Line two is similar.
The first help file is the file that will display in place of the

files. ^P or ^# codes along with all MCI codes are valid in

System Flags
User AC Restrictions
USER RESTRICTIVE FLAGS
L Can logon ONLY once/day.
C Can't page SysOp for chat anywhere in the system.
V Posts marked unvalidated -- Marks all public messages
as "unvalidated" until the SysOp either validates
or deletes them.
B As of right now this flag has no function. It used
to restrict the user from using his backspace key,
which in some terminal emulations either froze the
system up, or caused very undesirable results on the
console screen.
A This flag is reserved for future use.
* This flag is reserved for future use.
P Can't post at all. This flag prevents users from posting
in ANY base, regardless of their security level.
E Can't send Email. This flag prevents the caller from
sending any Email to another user.
K This flag is reserved for future use.
M Mandatory reply or deletion of EMail. User must either
read and reply to private mail, or delete it.
F This flag restricts the user from attaching files to messages.
U This flag restricts the user from using ANSI menus, defaulting
to Generic Menus.
USER REWARD FLAGS
1 No UL/DL ratio check. This flag will suppress the
upload/download ratio check.
2 No File Kilobyte check. This flag will suppress the kilobyte
download check.
3 No file points check. This flag will suppress the
checking of a user's file points when requesting a
download of a file.
4 Protection from deletion. This flag will prevent a
user's account from being deleted.
File Base Flags
NO RATIO - No filepoints or ratios charged for file downloading.
UNHIDDEN - Filebase can be seen by everyone.
DIR-HEADER - This command does nothing in this release.
*.DIR FILE IN DLPATH - This will store the *.DIR in the download
path instead of the DATA path.
GIF SPECS - This will automatically insert GIF resolution into the
file description.
CD-ROM - This tells Imajica that the base is a CD-Base. This flag
is nessesary for the proper functioning of the CDRom player.
See Section on CDRom.
GIF SPECS U/L - This flag allows forcing of resolution testing
when a .GIF file is received as an uploaded file.
Message Base Flags
Message Base Flags
MESSAGE BASE FLAGS
A. - Filter out all hi-bit characters including ANSI escape codes.
This will leave plain text messages.
U. - Marks base UNHIDDED. This base will be seen by everyone, but not
be accessable unless security permits it.
R. - Real Names ONLY. This base will force the use of Real Names, not
Handles.
Echomail Flags
MAIL FLAGS:
K - Strip IFNA kludge lines.
S - Strip SEEN-BY lines (EchoMail only).
O - Strip origin lines.
C - Strip Imajica "center line" codes.
B - This flag is reserved for future use.
M - Center boxed/centered lines with spaces.
T - Add tear and origin lines to posted messages.
K - Toggles stripping of IFNA kludge lines from incoming
messages. Kludge lines begin with the ^A code (1 decimal),
and are not normally needed. Applicable to both EchoMail
and GroupMail bases.
S - Toggles stripping of SEEN-BY lines from incoming messages.
SEEN-BY lines define which nodes have received the message,
and are not normally needed once the message has been
received. Useful only for EchoMail bases, as GroupMail
messages don't have SEEN-BY lines.
E - Toggles stripping of origin lines from incoming messages.
The origin line identifies the system that originated the
message, and is usually desirable. Applicable to both
EchoMail and GroupMail bases (though GroupMail messages
aren't required to have origin lines).
F - Toggles stripping of "center line" codes from lines in
outgoing messages. The centering code (^B, or 2 decimal)
tells Imajica to display the line in the center of the
screen according to the current screen width. Unless you
are communicating strictly with another Imajica system,
this code has no meaning in FidoNet messages. Applicable to
both EchoMail and GroupMail bases.
B - Toggles stripping of "box line" codes from lines in outgoing
messages. The box code ("`#[") tells Imajica to enclose
the text in a box, centered on the screen according to the
current screen width. Unless you are communicating strictly
with another Imajica system, this code has no meaning in
FidoNet messages. Applicable to both EchoMail and GroupMail
bases.
C - Toggles centering of boxed/centered lines in outgoing
messages. If enabled, lines that start with a box or center
code will be centered on an 80-column line by padding the
line to the left with spaces. (This is only done if box
and/or centering codes are being stripped.) Applicable to
both EchoMail and GroupMail bases.
T - Toggles the automatic addition of tear and origin lines to
messages posted in FidoNet bases. The tear line will use
the BBS version number ("--- Imajica v3.15", for example).
Applicable mainly to GroupMail bases, as GroupMail messages
aren't required to have tear and origin lines (they are
mandatory, however, for EchoMail messages).
*Quoted line colors - Imajica will recognize a quote line
as being valid if it has a ">" within the first 5
characters.
Tear lines are the lines that display the program used
to process the Echomail. These lines usually start with
"---".
IQNet lines are the lines that display when an Echomail
message was sent via QWK packets rather than through the
standard Fidonet format. These lines begin with "...".

Specific Optional Files
FILEBASE / MESSAGEBASE AREA FILES
Imajica has the option of displaying an external text file
everytime the command "L" to list files is executed. The
filename is determined by the current filebase FILENAME.
If your .DIR file is named IMAJICA.DIR, then the file
displayed will be IMAJICA.ANS.
Using the "A" command to list message base or file base
areas can also trigger the display of another text file.
If you are in the G - General conference in the message
bases, and you hit the "A"rea list command, the file
"CONFG.ANS" will be displayed. Consequently, if you switch
to the file bases, and you are in the S - Sysop conference
there, your "A"rea list command would display the file
"CONFS.ANS".
If you want extended descriptions for your files, but don't
want to create a FILES_ID.DIZ or enter the extended info,
you can create an external display file that will be
displayed when a user uses the "I"nformation command on the
file list prompt.
EXAMPLE: Filename is DSZ0204.ZIP.
Create a display file called DSZ0204.IFD
and place it in the MISC directory.
This file will now be displayed each time
you call for information on it. *INFO*
flag will also be displayed on the file list.
CDRom
File base editing of CDRom bases is slightly different.
Below is a partial clip of a CDRom filebase.
D/Load Path : E:\X09\
* This is the path to the files on CD.
CDRom bases will NOT accept an upload. You must create a directory
to provide for uploads, if you are running all CDRom directories.
When uploading CDRom files to Imajica, use the "C"ontinuous upload
method. It is advisable to check the amount of files in each CD
directory, and adjust the File Base Maximum Files value if needed.
F/List Path : D:\X09\FILES.BBS
* This is the path and filename of the FILES.BBS or other
directory file list for automatic uploading of file
descriptions. The format for file lists is below:
FILE .EXT This is where the description starts.
^^^^^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
| | The file description starts on char. 20.
|
|------------------| The filename is padded to 8 characters.
This function is not available on the 3.15 Beta version, but is
available in Alpha testing right now. Beta's must do the following
to upload file descriptions to CD Bases:
Copy each individual directory list, i.e. "FILES.BBS", into
the \DATA\ directory and rename it the same filename as your
filebase .DIR file with the extention of .LST. IMAJICA.DIR
file description list would be called IMAJICA.LST. You may
now run the description uploading command (FX).
You must also take into consideration that in preparation for files to
be downloaded from a CDRom directory, the files tagged for download will
be transferred to the node temporary directory until transfer is completed.
If you allow a user to download 12 meg a day, you might want to be sure
you have 12 meg of HD space for the files to be stored providing the user
puts them all in one batch transfer queue.
